Artychoking

Em busca de alcachofras. A blog by Pedro Nunes

Location: Lisbon, Portugal

I was having a tuna sandwich when something went wrong and all of a sudden I was sucked into space. I found myself in the distant galaxy of Valpolicela (no relation) and am using this device to send signals to my earthbound comrades. Because I am confused I often pretend to be Spiff the intergalactic explorer extraordinaire. When I am bored I collect artichokes, therefore the name of this blog.

Portuguese pop mavericks 1 - Ocaso Épico

The 1980s were the by far the best decade in pop music made in Portugal. A new generation of pop acts rebelled against the dullness of the Portuguese music scene and broke new boundaries both musically and visually. This new breed of artists was influenced by Anglo-Saxon pop but used such influences in a creative way and often incorporating elements from our own music traditions. They did it at a time when Portugal didn't even have a well-established music industry. Subsequently we had one but the music wasn't that interesting anymore.
Enjoy the mavericks. The rest later...
